This piece is too thin to be ground as a mirror, but is a great prospect for cutting secondary mirrors. There are a few rough spots on the edge of this particular piece. The white splatter is dried grit from the cutting process.

These mirror blanks are made from high quality, refractive grade quartz. They are thinner and lighter than their Pyrex counterparts, and will polish to a smoother finish. Quartz has a higher thermal mass than borosilicate glass, which allows reduced cool down times and minimizes the change in the surface of the mirror from heating and cooling. These mirror blanks are shipped via UPS usually within one week of when the order is received. For a strong, lightweight, crystal clear mirror, this is the substrate of choice!
